Loan Boxes

The EMRC has a selection of equipment packaged up in loan boxes ready for use. Schools and community groups can hire the activity loan boxes for up to three weeks. Hire is free of charge for schools and community groups in the Town of Bassendean, Cities of Bayswater, Belmont, Kalamunda and Swan and the Shire of Mundaring.

Waste Audit Kit

EMRC’s Waste Audit Loan Kit is available for use by schools and community groups for one week. Hire is free of charge for schools and community groups in the eastern region. Waste auditing is the first step in understanding what kinds of waste are being generated by your organisation and helps start conversations about what you can do to minimise or avoid waste. The contents of the loan kit align with that of the kit used by the State Government’s Waste Wise Schools (WWS) program. Schools are advised to conduct a waste audit every six months to track their progress.

Litter Letters

The Litter Letters is a highly visual 3D messaging system used to raise awareness and promote action about the impact of litter on our environment and in our community. The letters are constructed out of wire mesh and rebar and designed to act as cages, to safely hold and display the materials collected.  There are two different sized sets of Litter Letters that can be utilised, free of charge, by schools and community groups in the eastern region for up to two weeks.

Waste-Wise Schools

This award-winning program provides professional development for teachers in Western Australia in developing school waste minimisation strategies, such as recycling, composting and worm farming, and administers a school grants program. The program is free of charge.

Cleanaway waste education programs

These are available to local primary schools in Perth's Eastern Region, free of charge. The Transpacific Cleanaway education program focuses on the three R's: recycling, reusing and reducing through practical demonstrations and entertaining class activities. The program is very popular so   teachers are advised to book early.

Sustainable Schools WA

Sustainable Schools WA is a whole-school planning framework for Education for Sustainability (EfS) that has been developed 'by schools, for schools' to support implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum.

REmida WA

REmida WA is a creative re-use centre that collects industrial discards from shops and factories around Perth, making these materials available to schools, childcare centres, artists and families. Professional development workshops are offered for teachers about how to use recycled materials in the classroom and strengthen your learning environments. They also run workshops and activities for schools, Early Years programs and festivals.

Recycle Right

Recycle Right has been developed to encourage and assist residents and businesses in Western Australia to correctly recycle and reduce their rubbish. Visit the Recycle Right website or download the app to find out which bin to put items in, find recycling and drop off points in Perth and advice on living sustainably.

Planet Ark Recycling Near You

The Recycling Near You website contains information about the recycling and waste services offered by your council as well as local drop-off options for items including computers, batteries, printer cartridges, mobile phones and many more.
