Drop off days

The City of Belmont provides a number of free drop off days for residents to dispose of difficult or hazardous items. These drop off days are for the following:

  •  Asbestos (car batteries and motor oil can also be dropped off at these days)
  •  White and metal goods
  •  Mattresses and bed bases

White and metal goods, mattress and bed base drop off days

White goods, metal goods and mattresses can be taken to the City of Belmont Operations Centre (180 Planet Street, Carlisle) from 9.00 am - 2.00 pm on:

  • Sunday, 17 September 2017
  • Sunday, 18 March 2018

The types of goods which can be dropped off include:

  • bicycles
  • dishwashers
  • engine oil (maximum 60 litres, must be in 20 litre containers)
  • freezers
  • fridges
  • mattresses and bed bases of all sizes
  • ovens
  • roller shutters
  • safes
  • solar heaters
  • vehicle batteries


Mattresses and bed bases can also be dropped off at the asbestos drop off days (below).

Please note that car parts cannot be dropped off.

Asbestos, mattress and bed base drop off days

Six fence sheets (max), securely wrapped flat in black plastic and taped, will be accepted.

Please take these items to the City of Belmont Operations Centre (180 Planet Street, Carlisle) from 9.00 am - 2.00 pm on:

  • Sunday, 19 September 2017
  • Sunday, 11 March 2018
