Resource Recovery Project
R-Gang Needs You To Help Us Fight Waste!
Are You Up To the Challenge?

Although most members of the community in Perth's Eastern Region participate in the 3R's - reduce, re-use and recycle, many people may not be aware of resource recovery as a new way of making resources out of our waste.
EMRC recognises that landfilling all waste is not the most sustainable option for waste management in the future and would like to consider other options to recover resources from waste.
Community Consultation
EMRC ran a series of community information and feedback sessions in each of the six member Councils in July and August 2005. This was followed by the first regional workshop in October 2005 where participants developed selection criteria for a resource recovery solution.
At the second and final workshop for the Resource Recovery Project, which was held on Saturday 18 February 2006 at the Midland Town Hall, workshop attendees decided the weighting (importance) that should be applied to each of the selection criteria. With the agreed weightings and the assessments made by the project team, each of the potential solutions and the sites was scored.
