2011 - Working wood waste into wonders

Woodworking Workshop - September 2011 - COURSE IS FULL

Create something beautiful from timber once destined for landfill.

We have been lucky enough to secure the amazing Greg Miller for a limited number of exclusive woodworking workshops (www.gregdmiller.blogspot.com). Let your head go! From the array of recycled/re-used timber that will be available (and any you bring with you), create something beautiful, lasting, decorative and/or functional. You will learn to use some of the wide range of traditional woodworking tools which are provided, and take home your wonderful creation. If you are stuck for ideas, Greg will have plenty of suggestions, tips and techniques. Ah… you can hear, feel, and smell the wood as you work it… as an introductory class we will be concentrating on designing and making kitchen chopping boards, wooden spoons and spatulas.

Volunteers for the 2011 Royal Show

There will be an Earth Carers stall at this year's Royal Show, 1 to 8 October. The stall lets people know what the Earth Carers course is all about and ways to reduce waste (composting, worm farming etc). Volunteers will receive a full day pass to the show and will be allocated a 3 hour time slot to volunteer at the stall. The stall will have a Regional Council staff member (the guru) on hand at all times, any tricky questions can be referred to them to answer. If you are interested in volunteering or would like to know more information please email tania.wells@emrc.org.au or phone Tania on (08) 9424 2256.
