Bulk refuse collection: information and dates

The Shire of Mundaring provides one bulk refuse collection per financial year.

Green waste is only collected in the South and West Wards.

Storing bulk refuse items on the verge

  •  Please bundle, box or bag items in suitable containers. This will minimise time delays and allow the Shire to provide a more efficient bulk refuse collection.
  •  Please remember that cardboard and paper containers disintegrate when wet. Any mess created by broken containers will be the responsibility of the householder.
  •  All containers will be removed.
  •  Please do not leave items not intended for bulk refuse collection on the verge (eg bicycles).


Items collected

  •  General junk;
  •  Household furniture (emptied, placed on verge);
  •  Timber (less than 1.5m, must be bundled and parallel to verge);
  •  Steel, iron, pipes, and corrugated iron (less than 1.5m, must be bundled and parallel to verge);
  •  Wire remnants (must be safely & securely bundled and tied);
  •  White goods (refrigerators must be certified as degassed by a refrigeration mechanic and door removed).


Items that will not be collected

  •  No asbestos products or fibre cement sheeting;
  •  No bricks and rubble;
  •  No car bodies or tyres;
  •  No inflammable liquids/oils;
  •  No concrete items or bags of cement;
  •  No glass drink containers;
  •  No green waste from verge trees;
  •  No household refuse;
  •  No hazardous chemicals;
  •  No wooden pallets.


Please remember that this service is provided for the convenience of residents. Your cooperation is sought and appreciated. This will minimise time delays and allow Council to provide a more efficient bulk refuse collection.

Residents in Mundaring are entitled to a yearly transfer station pass to take certain materials such as greenwaste to the Shire of Mundaring Recycling / Transfer Stations.
